Service design
What would make the call worth answering?
Conversation quality, completed actions and onboarding are different parts of a dependable receptionist service.
JobBooked starts with someone who needs help while a small trades business is busy doing the work. The question quickly becomes more specific than whether an AI can speak.
Does the conversation listen? Does it allow an interruption? Does it ask for clarification? Does it retain enough context to respond usefully? When should a person take over?
Listen to the interaction
I’ve been developing the service with agents using historical call analysis and structured evaluation cases. The candidate voice configuration still needs fresh conversation testing. A configuration readback cannot establish how a call feels.
Then follow it into the business
A caller hearing the right words does not establish that a booking exists or the right person received a message. Each needs evidence of its own.
Setup matters too: coverage hours, service area, approved answers, booking rules and escalation. Repeatable client onboarding and integrations remain work ahead.
A conversation review sheet
A newly authored rubric for thinking about a test call. Record observations rather than assuming a pass from a convincing voice.
Scroll sideways for the full table.
| Look for | Question to ask | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Listening | Did it respond to what was actually said? | A specific exchange and the caller’s request |
| Interruption | Could the caller correct or interrupt it? | Where the interruption occurred and how it recovered |
| Clarification | Did it ask when information was missing? | The missing detail and the follow-up question |
| Boundaries | Did it follow the business’s booking and escalation rules? | The applicable rule and observed behavior |
| Action | Did the required booking or handoff happen? | A separate read or delivery record from the destination |
| Recovery | Did a failure leave the caller with a useful next step? | What failed and what the caller was told |
This is a reusable review aid, not a report that JobBooked has passed these checks. Use fictional scenarios and authorized test destinations.
